Relative reputations: early 80\'s Brooms V Freemans?

Any thoughts on these builders?

I'm talking bigger sizes, in particular. eg Freeman 41 and Broom Ocean 42.

Both well made, with the Freemans boasting lovely woodwork inside, but Brooms using the space more efficiently. I believe the Brooms fetch a fair bit more, which is good or bad depending on whether you want to buy one, or sell one...

both good boats, the freeman has a big flybridge and a huge aft deck that the broom doesn`t
You will find more Brooms than the freeman 41
I dont think they made many !
I would put my money on the broom

The Broom Monarch is a beautiful boat if you can find one

Broom Ocean 42 are excellent sea boats and are a lot of boat for the money at current prices. Having previously owned an Ocean 37 I can vouch for build quality.

IMHO, Broom Monarch (ie 40ft) is perhaps better than the Broom Ocean 42 mainly because the freeboard on the 42 is too high. Monarch high too but not as much as the 42. Both cavernous inside.

Plus you could get that Broom a lot further up inland waterways due to airdraft.
The best of both worlds.
