Registering boats!

Having just bought a Crabber from Crabbers the Bill of Sale says

"A purchaser of a British Registered ship does not obtain complete title until the appropriate Bill of Sale has been recorded with the Registry and a new Certificate issued"

Who is the Registry? There are no details on the Bill of Sale.

I haven't done this on any of my other boats

This is only relevant if your boat is on the Part 1 Register where, if you want your title to be registered you have to complete the transfer through the registry and register it in your own name. If the boat is registered in this way it is worth keeping up the registration. If, on the other hand it is not on the register the Bill of Sale is the only record of title. You can register the boat on the SSR if you want to take it abroad but this is not a register of title.

The vendor or broker should have given you all the necessary paperwork. You can find an explanation of the process on the RYA site or direct from the registry in Cardiff.

As Tranona says if it is already registered on Part 1 it may be worthwhile maintaining that as it does give evidence ( if not proof) of title.

If not and you need it to be registered for "going foreign" consider the Small ships register.
