Hi

Mark and Audrey here. Our boat is in The Hamble. We are interested in the Regina 43 and would love to hear from any owners as to their experience. Maybe you could PM me here?

We are sail a Najad 380 currently which we love to death so moving on is going to be tricky.
We sail short handed for longish periods away UK/France and are looking moving slowly down through France to Spanish Rias... we will end up in the med over a few seasons. We are in season 3 with the Najad.

I might like a heavier boat looking for a little more weather bandwidth and authority in the water. Dont get me wrong, the N380 is fantastic for its size but I am thinking a 12 tonne boat is going to please Audrey a little more in a blow than our 9 tonne 380.

My starting questions:

  • Is visibility from the deck saloon sufficient to keep watch from inside?
  • Is being higher up inside pitch you about more?
  • Are both the upper port and lower starboard seats useable as passage births?
  • How does she handle upwind in a blow (25-30Knts) with a good swell on?
  • What apparent wind angle can she make upwind with the solent out on the self tacker?
  • What is the upper wind speed limit upwind before you start to furl in the solent? I am interested in the wind bandwidth of the rig before killing off sail shape.
  • The forward part of the cockpit seems to limit how tight in under the dodger/spary hood you can get. Does this become and issue?

Anything else you want to tell me!

Regards and thanks in advance.

Hi... replying way after your posting date, but wondering if you ever went for the regina? We bought our Regina 43 'Arkyla' in Sep 18 and, after 1 year shakedown cruising in Solent, are getting her ready to take down to the Med this summer. I have quite a few questions that I'm guessing only other 43 owners might be able to answer!
