We are starting our two week down river cruise on Saturday. First night is at Ricmond Yacht Club for a social event. We intend to arrive mid-afternoon so should meet the regatta in full flow. Could be interesting rounding up outside the club but four & two should do the trick. Will report when iI return.

All this rower and regatta bashing is becoming a bit pathetic, peeps should find something more worthwhile to moan about.

Do you really believe I am "rower and regatta bashing" ??

I am in fact just trying to give people advance warning so that they are not taken by surprise by the event, and to allow them to plan accordingly.

With SWMBO and my son both involved in competitive rowing, I can assure you that it would be me getting the bashing if I was unfair to rowers!!!!

Oh, Ok.

But it does raise the question, am I just stirring things up.... Would you all be happier not to know?

I do not claim to know of every Regatta being organised, but I am happy to post when I know of one. ( This is usually because my family are competing in it! ).

What does the Forum think?

Hi Paul,

I appreciate the post and advanced information, thanks for posting it.

Also, I like to see the regattas if we are passing as long as they behave themselves.;)

Good luck to your family if they are competing as well.

Ok as Tony seems to have deleted his post i've deleted mine, don't want to start a war:)

Wasn't getting at Ramage posting the information, but a Regatta is an attraction on the river not a hazzard to navigation.

The fact is it is BOTH.

As are Triathalon swims, sailing regattas, duck races etc.

Most of them get EA announcements (or PLA Notice to Mariners).

Better awareness hopefully leads to better safety and everyone co-existing happily (I wish).
