1. lots of people buy Regals from Gibbs, and usually they are very aggressive on price
2. lots of people then complain that having got a good deal, they dont get the chummy dealer support that they expected.
There s a long and very old queue in front of you!
Meanwhile, they continue to sell alot of Regals at keen prices.
Hmmm - but this case was a brokerage boat, not Gibbs stock, lots of confusion/misunderstanding in the thread about what was bought and from whom.....major misunderstanding at the contract stage (which was a failing of Gibbs to explain, they were the professionals in the deal) IMHO.
Not sure what the purpose of bumping the thread (by proxy), was.....if everyone bumped every thread where they'd had a problem there wouldn't be room for owt else!
Yep - just meant he could have bumped the actual original thread, but had done it "by proxy" using a new thread......then it would have been easier to add content and continue the discussion. Unless the sole point is to put up the "Gibbs are bad people" flag again.
My Boat originally came frome Gibbs, but I bought it from another dealer second hand as I had already had a bad experience with them.....
I met them at the boatshow and was looking for a 21 ft ish cuddy speed boat. At the Boat show they only had speedboats and big cruisers so no good to me. Do not worry they said, we have 13 different boats that would suit you (new and secondhand) at our marina. Well I said when is best for you. Come down in a week when we are all back there. Great I thought. So one week later I rang them and they told me to pop in the next day. Well I lived in manchester and Gibbs is a long way but as I was keen, and they were too, I set off at 6 in the morning and arrived at about 12.30. Of course he was out to luch so I grabbed a sandwich and started looking around. All of the boats were shrink wrapped so I could not see a lot (it is January as well).
Next he comes back and we talk money on two seperate boats. One a monterey and the other a Regal. Both Different boats (massive price difference ) but I fancied both. So I said OK lets look at them. He took me outside and pointed to two shrink wrap boats. I said that I needed to go on board. He said no chance unless you pay £250 to re-shrinkwrap the boats (both new) I said no chance....he said goodbye. So I wasted over £70 in fuel and a days holliday for nothing. Two years later a met them again and they tried to do a great deal...I said [--word removed--] off!
BTW, these were not the only dealers to waste my time that year....

The problem is that this board (somewhat uniquely) has as its default setting threads in order of their original post. You can change this setting for your own viewing and a lot do, but a lot more don't or don't realise you can or don't realise the benefits of doing so.
Upshot is that if you reply to a thread that isn't on the first page or two, chances are more than half the people using the board won't see it.
It's a truely bizarre situation and there's been attempts to suggest this is changed in the past, but sadly it remains the same, which is why I never bother replying to a thread not on the first page or two cos it's a waste of time as most won't ever see it. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
