Has anyone replaced the bearings in a profurl swivel, just asked the price here in the states and they are asking $1051 plus tax. I will try and buy the bearings, what have I to loose but it will be helpfull if some one has been there before. Anyone needing bearings should try Ashley Bearings at Poole. Never let me down yet!!

Also, make sure it's your swivel that is actually causing you issues, profurl's can be very hard to furl for a number of reasons. Bottom units can feel fine when not under load, so check for and 'rocking' in lower unit bearings, as well as for good halyard lead, backstay tension etc.

I have replaced the bearings in both the lower and upper parts of my old profurl. They are slimline bearings, one to each piece. I had to get them ordered but were in next day along with 4 oil seals. I think they cost around £35.00 from Brammer who used to be Bearing Services. There are two ball bearings, one on each side of the outer casings which can be got out with an allen key from inside once the unit is stripped which involves removing the circlips. The ball bearings cover the grease overflow so that when you are rebuilding the units excess grease is forced out of the holes and the balls are then pushed back in place and held by as centre punch dot.
