Refinishing cockpit flooring

I am in the process of varnishing teak internal woodwork, removed to warm workshop, with Epifanes Rapidclear. I have stripped brown coloured varnish from cockpit grating (hate that stuff) and am now considering what to do next.
The grating is close grained hardwood (oak?) in long slats not square grating.
Do I varnish, oil or leave bare? It is a deep cockpit, self draining and mostly dry. Might as well do something to it besides all other woodwork.
Any thoughts?

Leave bare. Never need to strip off nasty things again and a drop of oxalic acid solution brings it back to sparkly newness with very little effort.

Yes, I'd leave it bare. Coat it a couple of times a year with Boracol, etc, to keep mould and algae at bay.
