I'm in Norway at the moment but this question doesn't specifically apply to Norway although if anyone has specific recommendations that would be great.

I have 2 x 4.5kg Butane on board and a gas bottle adaptor kit full of various brass adaptors. Someone recommended I get this kit prior to a circumnavigation so I did.

Does anyone refill their calor bottles and if so, what type of place does this kind of thing?

I want to avoid moving over to CampingGaz if possible.

I though the idea of the adapter kit was that it allowed you to use the locally available cylinders

Lots of thoughts here:
Not too sure about re-filling calor bottles specifically (calor wont like!), but I did it in spain 15years ago.
Are you thinking of the yellow GASLOW bottles (or similar) designed for refilling at autogas stations?
I don't think Norway does butane - only propane.
Norway gas bottles are a different shape to calor ones - taller - they certainly didnt fit my gas locker, will they fit yours?

Who said it's to be easy?? Apart from another "industrial use standard", these are the bottles available in Norway. Prophane only. Butane doesn't work well in cold weather.

I use the blue Primus 2 kg bottle, for now. Steel bottles rust onboard, and I don't think these are available in the Caribeans... Let me know what to choose, if you can. For more world wide sailing??

I refill mine at lpg pumps at petrol stations. If you're worried about that sort of thing you can get Gaslow refillable bottles which come with a manufacturer's certificate stating they can be refilled.

I use the green/white grp bottles, second from left. Variable in UK from homebase. Common in Portugal as well, but with a different adaptor fitting. And a multi adaptor kit.. Idea being beg/borrow a local bottle and connect to my bottle then hang the local bottle upside down so the gas slowly trickles into mine (northcave).the Grp bottles are good for this as you can see the gas level. If it's cold a kettle of boiling water now and again over the local bottle speeds things up. Though I haven't had to do that for a while, usually found a local place with a range of adaptors who can fill my bottles.
