looking at a boat, its original volvopenta single petrol sterndrive has been re-engined with what appears to be a marinised diesel, yet using the original volvo leg gear-is this an unusual mod?thanks

Lancing marine are one company which specialise in helping people to dump those thirstybold rusty nasty petrol heaps and replace with nice d....l kit.Only thing to watch is that conversion was done properly.Need to watch that owners of DIY conversions did not cut corners by using 250K shagged transit van lump as basis for marinisation. You can buy brand new lump ready to go,so this would have been prefered route .Would also make sure that replacement engine was powerful enough in relation to removed item.

Old Git is quite right,I have a lancing marine conversion in my fairline weekender.
It uses the original volvo leg, works well, although,i have only just bought her,
so when ive got a season under my belt with her i will give my verdict (still in the
honey moon period at present!) best of luck,

nigel
