Reed\'s Nautical Almanac - best deal?

I have just collected mine from my local branch of W & H Smith. Delivered within 4 days.

£24.49 if collected from any branch or plus £0.99 posted.

This seems to be one of the best deals available at present.

This is for the paperback edition, not the loose-leaf type.

£24.20, post free, from Amazon.
When will peeps look there first for nautical books?

Re: Reed\'s Nautical Almanac - best deal?

Hmm! Only one I can see on Amazon at £24.20 has £2.75 postage on top. web page And 2-3 weeks delivery compared with 3-4 days from WHS.

Can you please give me a link to the one you refer to? Maybe I can return the one I got from WHS and save myself all of 29 pence. Wow!

thought Smiths was about £18 on line..
but isnt someone bringing out an electronic free, similar one shortly..

Re: Reed\'s Nautical Almanac - best deal?

If there's a one at just £18, it may be the loose-leaf version or one covering a smaller area. I'd be surprised if the "full works" Reeds was available at that price, until later in the season maybe.

I chose Smiths after comparing with Amazon and other suppliers. I almost bought one from an outfit called The Book Depository but they suddenly increased the price. Like most things, it pays to shop around.

For all I know there may be an electronic version but I prefer a paper one. Not much can go wrong with it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I usually alternate, buying the full Almanac and the Small Craft Almanac every other year. Not too many changes in a year and if my other charts and cruising books are up to date then in my usual sailing grounds I find this ok. What is the best 'bible' for the Channel Isles?
