He seems a proper end of the bell.

He seems to come from the Prince Andrew school of remorse.

I would hazard a guess he has found himself in court in part due to his attitude to the investigators who no doubt had some level of discretion.

I do have some minor sympathy as I believe this is the case where a boat full of people and no radio decided to drive into front of a ferry and were then surprised they got hit. Colregs of course as I remember made it the ferry's problem, but the smaller boat ( in my view) did cause it.

The yacht owner received a caution for failing to keep a look out.....so someone agrees J.

The Captain seems to be taking a strange “tack”. Understand he’s not going to sit there and say it’s all my fault but you’ve got to be prepared to justify your actions (or non action) in a professional way if you want those years of experience to be seen as valid. Otherwise....it comes across as years of luck!

.........to me it came across as boredom and complacency with an over inflated sense of self importance.The impression is for years people have been getting out his way in courtesy and now he believes its his natural right.
