Red Diesel update...

There have been lots of press releases and "snippets" of information.
I am understanding all this as "state 60/40 and we will not question you"
Hope I'm right, seems like a good result to me. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is this a tacit price cut???

As I don't have a diesel heater, I would be reluctant to take the rebate, partly because I don't like being dishonest, and partly because I could be found out.

I assume the transaction of buying fuel will be tracable, so if you 'take advantage' it could come back and haunt you.

My judgement would be that the squids that I would save on my Sadler sailing boat are not worth the risk of a large fine and stress involved.

But I guess if yu have a thirsty mobo, then a diesel heater is a must.

Well its as good an illustration as any of why the admin of government is so resoundingly incompetent. First they land us with an unnecessary price hike, and then they put in a system which gives you a choice between being honest /poor or dishonest. Suppose I should have accepted it since this is the way the social services system works anyway

Idiots.

csail i think you need to rethink you question.

60/40 for one heater so maby you would get 50/50 or 40/60

What if you live onbord could you claim 100%

Guess if you never move then you could claim 100% as i would need to run the engine which charges the battery to run the heating?

Sure you could claim 100% but be prepared to prove it they come a knockin'
The way I read it, and I have reseaqrched a lot, is that 60/40 is acceptable to HMRC and as long as you stay within these parmeters you will not be questioned.

To be honest it won't really bother sail boats and white diesel will be better for the webasto heater anyway. We only fill about twice a year so compared to other costs it won't really be noticed.

This year I haven't even used half a (50L) tank yet /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

It's the crappy weather that depresses me the most...
