Red diesel tax avoidance

seriously now, how are they going to enforce it? the red dye and "chemical marker" is in our systems so if we get pulled by the reveners how are they going to sya whether the marker is old or new? scenario, 28 sec heating oil in system, colour clear, has chemical marker in it, but i argue that the chemical marker is from previous use of red? is the reveners going to actively chase after every yottie, i think not. gordon can kiss my aspidestra!!

I would guess that they will frighten the "pushers" rather than police the "users"

the goal would make it difficult/impossible to buy tax free diesel for pleasure use, as the suppliers would fear the consequences.

If you have red in your tank, you will be able to use it till it runs out, but shouldnt be able to buy anymore.

Bit like the money laundering regs.. Banks, estate agents, lawyers etc. cant work for you unless you prove your identity in a certain way. In addition, if you work for one of the above, and you suspect someone might be money laundering, you have to report them to NCIS, (or something like that). If you dont, and it is found that you should have, you can go to prison. Ditto if you tip them off that you are going to report them.

Reading some passage planning notes which someone posted about earlier, it seems that where the rule is already applied, it can be difficult to get leisure diesel in some places, other than carrying it from the nearest petrol station.

How not to pay

You will still be entitled to use red deisel for heating, in the eberspatcher, and I suppose you might be allowed to use it in any generator.

You will also be able to use red diesel once you are out of the 12 mile limit (or 3 mile???).

So install on small tank to run the boat main engine on tax paid stuff locally, and use the main tanks to run the heating and the main engines when out of the 12 mile limit.

So Install another set of tanks - Ken - get a larger boat or their will be no room for tanks! oh and make sure the leak off back to the tanks go back to the correct tank!
