Red Diesel Price

Just read a post from March....mentions the death of red diesel in 2007...WHAT?? IS THIS TRUE?
Have I been missing something here. I'm just about to convert to diesel...so am I going to be paying road price??
Can't convert to LPG because inland waterways will not allow dual fuel boats.
'Spose I could wholly change to LPG..but then the lubrication necessary from petrol on start-up wouldn't be there...

Yes it's true and petrol doesn't give any lubrication from cold, actually opposite, it washes the oil off the bores!

There's a 'derogation' until 2007, which was recently renewed. Ireland, Belgium and Finland enjoy the same EC tax exemption.

It could well be renewed again when the time comes.

Re:Stop moaning.

You can just pay a proper price like the rest of us ie.petrol users. We pay our way with no complain. An do not go whinge whinge whinge because you can no longer take advantage of being able to fuel your monster 30 m gin palaces at a price that was designed to help people who earned their living on farms/boats etc...........IMHO.

Hard work never did anyone any good. You die from it.

Re: Dieselzzzzzzzzzzz

When I go deaf, cannot smell, want to keep warm and have won the lottery to enable me to maintain the oilburner in its nasty habits.
Mainlining on turbos/pistons/engine mounts and so and having to shove in the tank all those arm and a leg"additives" it cannot live without. maybe maybe

The amount of tax paid for marine diesel is up for review in 2007, the low rate is not being abolished in 2007. Anyways even if they do put more tax on it in 2007 it wont be as much as forecourt prices just in line with the rest of Europe.

Politically incorrect and proud of it.

If they put tax on it in UK, wont it be the same as road diesel in the uk? ie 86 pence. Its the same price as road diesel in europe, ie, 46 pence in portugal, 43 pence in spain.

Ralph,
Already been to see Colin @ Stourport..he's working out a deal for me @ present. In the meantime, have contacted Lancing Marine for their deals.
Judging by response to my Samurai posting, not heard anything positive about them...thank God for this forum.
Will probably go with Colin or Lancing and get a local marine engineer to fit (a guy from Stourport).
