Flawed poll

two things, why £5.00 per gallon when DERV is only £3.60 per gallon this makes your poll an exageration and an unreal scenario.

You have missed an option, change boat either to a sailing yacht or smaller less power hungry, just offering option to sell boat is far too limited surely, are people with 50gph mobo's only happy to be on the water with such craft.

I do not believe that for one minute.

Numero uno

Bloody hell Joe, for someone who is not affected by the red diesel issue you must be the most prolific poster on both here and scuttlebutt!!!

Why such an interest in something that doesn't affect you? Or are you planning on buying a gas guzzling monster?

It is all getting a tad tedious.

Re: Numero uno

Interested. Just interested. I must admit that I can see the appeal of some of the gas guzzlers, but I'll be staying with something which has plenty of string to pull.

There, one more post for you to count up /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: Numero uno

So are the proliferation of threads, all with everyone taking the same stance on each one. Equally tedious. can't people take these threads to the forum set up for the purpose?

If the concession is removed. The marina prices are higher than the garage price and so there is no chance of it being £3.60 a gallon at the waterside. It could be £4 plus.

I have added two more options to the poll.

Re: Flawed poll

Think that is not a bad price. The big question is how much will be available, or how much will boatyards invest.
If say he buys red diesel in at 25p, sells it at 30p, and buys 10,000 ltres, therefore makes £500 or 20%. If now he has to stock ULSD as well as red ( comercial customers) he buys at sat 75p ( 80 p ltr ), that means his 10,000 lts cost him £7500, instead of £2500, 200% increase in stock, so to keep his same margin he must charge 90p ltr. But, he has had to but in a new 15,000 ltr fuel tank, lay new fuel lines down the pontoon, install a new pump, say £50,000, then theres the interest on the money to pay the larger stock, £2500 red, £7500 ULSD ( increase in money tied up from £2500 - £10,000 ), then the increased premium for extra insurance cover.
I would think that £1.40 / 1.50 a litre was not unreasonable, ( garage down Chelsea is charging £1.20 plus now for unleaded ).

Or does the boatyard stick to supplying red diesel to his commercial customers ( no cost outlay ), and inform the leisure user were to find the local garage. Big marinas may stock only ULSD diesel, but only sell in volume, or to there own yachts as a service.

Just a thought.

Brian
