RED Diesel- it starts again

Going by how few boats i see out even when the weathers nice , i cant see it making them much money!

the same and a number of yachting professionals have told me it is causing a lot of problems. Apparently the next upping in bio content is causing real concern
 
I suspect you will find many marinas on the Thames sell 28 second heating oil/kerosene as fuel due to the high number of liveaboards who use more oil for heating than propulsion. This is what we use for heating at home. If you have a domestic kerosene /28 second boiler it wont work on red diesel.
Consequently I always use Millers oil additive for every fill up to increase lubricity. FAME free is also getting virtually impossible to source on the Thames even though they all say it is.
28 second is also cheaper to purchase than Red Diesel.

??Eh?? Not in my cruising area, it's either MGO or (declining) Petrol for the hordes of small Freemen (long may they survive).

The whole debate is due to folks across the Sleeve who were mightily peeved at us Brits for following the letter of the EU edict - "for propulsion" - anything else is OK.
I suspect there are more folks cruising our national and inland waters than 'over there' and some who may even live aboard.

Call it what they may in all probability it will be Kerosene. Low powered basic diesels will work fine on it but reduced sulphur content may be an issue over time.
I feel you underestimate the vastness of the European waterway system and the number of craft that work and live on it.
