Red diesel abroad.

What does the team think about the item in the latest Sailing Today,[finally gave up on PBO a few months ago- it's changed too much] of the story about filling up with fuel in Brighton, sailing to Holland and being fined there by their Customs for having red diesel in their tank? As quoted, a license to print money from red dusters!

No, the dutch law on it is simple, if you declare it and have a reciept for it, (prove where it was purchased) no problem.

As Englander says - as long as you can prove you've just bought it in the UK recently ie show a receipt - you should be OK.
Holland initially said " It didn't know about UK's extention of the derogation on red diesel until now", but as long as you can prove you've bought it in the UK you should be OK.

The S.T. story evidently went to print before the hiatus that occurred on this forum and others, and the eventual admission by the Netherlands that they got it wrong.
Look on the RYA website, tells you to take receipts and keep a log.

just back from 3 wks in Holland didnt see any officials at all took 100 lts red in main tank + reciept.
didnt post a shengen
didnt have almanak one ( as usuall )
