It is that time of year where lots of people are doing to cosmetic stuff to their boats, loads of paint, line and sticky-backed names.

For the first time I have done a couple of (things never come in singles) boat names in reflective vinyl in two colours, one red and one green.

I guess the idea is that it backs up the nav lights, maybe in murky weather or before it is dark enough to warrant turning them on. My worry is this, would a flash of colour be confusing if you were actually at anchor? Would that mislead another skipper into thinking your all-round white was a stern + steaming?

I can't sorry, but it might be an idea to bring together:-
some reflective tape,
some forumites and their boats,
some beer,
a camera.

I am quite sure we could do a study that would be both scientific and educational. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As we do not have any of the above, try and imagine seeing the lime green flash of scattered light similar to when a distant ambulance is caught in your headlights... Would that make you think starboard light?

You get that tape at trade prices. 'Nostalgie de la Boue of Tollesbury' would require a remortgage to write in reflective tape twice.

Also be a right sod if the CG asked you to spell it phoenetically /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
