Thanks for your support and please encourage all and sundry to sign the petition. Look out for free campaign sticker and 10 point charter setting out the key arguments for keeping the red diesel exemption clause in next month's issue.

Hi Hugo, How many people have now signed the petition?

Also, has anyone Faxed there MP to tell 'em the redalert web page?
I am not sure if it will do any good - BUT it might be a good excuse to
recontact MPs to remind em we are still about.

IMHO??

My pleasure.
How about persuading your fellow IPC boating titles to give it some space?
It will affect the sailors and classic boat owners too, to a lesser extent.

Heavan forbid that all us Stinkies transfer to sail if price increases. Imagine it; ".."000 stinkies trying to sail around the Solent. Sounds like chaos?

As of yesterday about 250 people had signed the petition. A good start but we need more, please encourage all and sundry to make the effort, regardless of boat ownership. This will affect everyone from raggies to anglers alike.

Far too many people think we're all wealthy fat cats that can happily absorb this outrageous tax hike. Reading some of your comments on the petition forms this is clearly not the case, with large numbers of you threatening to give up boating altogether.

The 10 point charter and free sticker will appear in the June issue of the magazine which hits the shops on 20 May.

Thanks Hugo - have you read about the standard letter from John Healey MP??
I think we could do with those 10 points ASAP, is there anychance of putting them on the red alert site early?

Hope fully we can get 300 names and submit to PM

I have read the letter and don't like the tone or content of it one bit. However, I'm afraid I am going to have to keep my powder dry on our 10 point charter until nearer publication date. My publisher would kill me if I started posting stories on the web that hadn't yet appeared in the magazine.
As soon as I am able to I will post both the full story and a shortened letter version of the 10 point charter which you will be able to print off and send to your local MP.

Hugo - can the mag find out an publish what the major political parties policies on the issue? I do not hink any have a policy because they are not really aware of it but a publioc seeking of their views and subsequent publication - including non-responses would at least force them to start sorting it out.
