Cheers for all the recommendations. Looks like a consensus for Icom, but Entel in close second place.

By the way, I wouldn't put inverted commas round the Icom M31's problem. I would be seriously miffed if I'd bought one unsuspecting. As it is, I forgive Icom since they've chopped 100 quid of their good model.

Hi jon

Where did you get to on Saturday Night. I waited & waited & the beer never arrived.

In revenge I feel I have to mention that when the Mags recently tested Hand Helds the Standard (Brand)achieved an exceptional writeup & its considerably cheaper than the Icom. They have a new version with Lithium Ion Batteries too.

We were coming to the Folly but..
We were being entertained by Sportsboat and Rib Mag, it was getting very late.
So we just left Ocean Village and then headed to the Royal Southern up the Hamble.
So still owe you a beer! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The new radio you mention only has Lithium as an option, as standard (no pun) it is Nimh.
Well that it how I understand it and stand to be corrected.
Hence the cheaper price
Whilst not as bad as Ni-cad these will stll suffer memory effect.
