After my 'battery issue' this season I replaced the one battery that failed at the time and undertook to replace the whole bank over the winter. I am just back from three days in France and wanted to pass on my recommendation for a battery supplier.

Previously (on my sail boat) I had ordered batteries form the French sister site of Battery MegaStore with excellent results and was just going to use them again. However batteriemegastore.fr didn't have the batteries I want in stock so I looked for another supplier.

I came across https://www.energyparts-shop.com/ who are based in Belgium but will happily ship to where ever (in my case Beaulieu sur Mer). They are brilliant with communications and speak excellent English. My batteries arrived within 30 mins of the estimated delivery time and were cheaper than other options including batteriemegastore.fr

So I fully recommend this company if anyone is look for new batteries in Europe.

For the interested I fitted 4 x Varta M18 180ah . The one I bought from my local guy when I had 'the issue' was €340, from energyparts €210 each inc shipping.

Thanks for this recommendation. I've been looking for a new supplier - I previously used battery megastore both in the UK and in France, but on my last order I had absolutely appalling service, to the extent that I will never use them again.

Thanks for the link L, I thought about these guys but they couldn't supply the M18 version I was after to ensure that all 4 batteries were exactly the same.

+1, and thanks also for a title that made me smile - i.e., "Europe" as if you were writing from the Galapagos :D :p
I guess I must get used to that...

I thought about the title and it can be read a couple of ways - my intent was to show that they will deliver Europe Wide. Depending on how you view my nationality I can throw Europe in to cover the UK with ease.

On my work IT so no imogies for smiley face, tongue in cheek etc etc..

Thanks Shane. I used batterymegastore fr the last time and they were ok except for kackhanded delivery logistics, so I'm in similar place to JtB and glad to hear of another supplier.
As for disposing of old I leave them by the antibes port bin and people queue up (which means scramble, in fr :)) to take them away for recycling and the e20 that the lead is worth.

There is a live aboard a few boats down from us who keeps an eye on PM and he was more than happy to have them. So that was the disposal aspect taken care of.

I have already had someone else in BSM ask for the contact details. I was really impressed by them

Last time I just left them on the quai by the boat, and overnight the battery fairies turned up and magicked them away :D

No kidding but a 70++ old lady saw mine. As you know I can see the bins from my aft deck. She got her friend to stand guard and hobbled home to get one of those tartan shopping trollies. Proceeded to try to load 4 of the 50cm long beasts weighing 60kg each, but gravity overcame her obviously. So a few of us ended up getting someone with LRover to drive her home with them :).

A post which would get my vote as the most hilarious of the month.
It would, if it weren't as sad as it's hilarious, that is...

As per a recent post of mine, there are used battery fairies in Spain too and even expired fire extinguisher fairies :).

interesting !
when I read the title of your tread I thought I must advice about my good experience with a Belgium supplier;
but apparently its not the same:

https://www.onlinebattery.be/nl/merken

many years ago, I used to have (2x) good experience and good prices from Barden in UK, (for 26 x 105Ah Varta battery's)
but in spring 2017, I started browsing online / in Belgium, as the shipping cost on that Q is important,
and so I found onlinebattery.be,
again a very helpfull guy, and perfect service and delivery (also for some extra parts; terminal clamps and battery tester etc..)
I had a driver going to the south of Italy (Brindisi) anyway, (for the jetski)
Belgians appear to be good in battery's and service :D
