Having up-rooted the family to the US, the Mrs. has agreed to splash out on a Caribbean sailing break this Christmas. With the thought of rum punches on Christmas Day followed by some fresh fish from the coals I couldn't say no. And a 3 hour flight due South to 25oC vs. 8 hours back to 0oC in the UK makes this seem eminently sensible.

As the US school system provides 2.5 months of re-connecting with our children [sic] it only gives 10 days holiday at Christmas, so ideally we don't want to have to spend a lot of time on connecting flights etc.

So, any recommendations for destinations / charter / flotilla (it would help keep the children, and hence the adults, happy).

Many thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Go with the crowd to the BVI's or for a truly fun time charter out of Blue Laggon St Vincent and then the Tobago Cays and the fabulous Bequia are at your finger tips. Lots of fun places within a short sail. happy Island On Union is another must.

Mark ... I did the BVI with my family this past Christmas and did not find the crowds too bad ... kids haven't stopped talking about it. We started our charter on the 21st and stayed ahead of many of the charters doing the counter-clockwise loop around Tortola. I have Owner's Time on a brand new (2016) Lagoon 400-S2 Catamaran in the BVI and it is currently available during Christmas. Please visit Sail-Orion.com and let me know if I can help. Regardless, hope you have a wonderful adventure! Thanks - Mark
