I am looking for a really good marine surveyor to carry out a survey on a Beneteau Swift Trawler in the Southampton area.
Any recommendations?

I have used Nick Vass following recommendations from others. Excellent surveyor, very user friendly , and realistic on fees.

I also had Volvo Paul along for the sea trial, again following several recommendations.

Good luck

Same experience for me at the beginning of last summer when I purchased my boat. Both Nick and Paul are very experienced, thorough professionals. (Easy to get along with as well which helps !).

Topview,

I can understand recommendations for Volvopaul and I rate him highly.

If you go with Jim Pritchard and your vessel has Cummins QSB he will suggest Simon at VaSi Marine if you require engine survey which is a good call as well as mechanical inspection they will plug in Cummins Insite tidy up any inactive fault codes if present and give you a good overview of how engine has been operated.

Other than a weeping seal on seawater pump rest of engine will be solid, dependent on years/hours look for records of CAC service, if Simon advises it is not revenue generation simply good sense.

Good luck

Nick Trainer did our survey http://www.meridianyachts.co.uk/about.php

Very easy and professional to deal with. Did both the out of water survey and sea trial.

As Latestarter outlines (Forum Cummins Guru) you won't be disappointed with the QSB 5.9.

Short Clip from the Sea Trial but you can hear what the Cummins sounds like under load.
