I have taken the plunge and had an offer accepted on a Benny Antares 9.80 in Southampton subject to Sea Trial/Survey.
Being from the Isle of Man (ie a million miles from the South Coast), i have no idea who to use for the survey and engine report.
Can anyone recommend a quality (a) surveyor and (b) Marine engineer.
What should i expect to pay for the survey and engine checks?
Boat is out of the water but obviously will be arranging to drop it in for sea trial and engine check under load.
Finally, any advice on best route back from Southampton to the Isle of Man? I will be doing it with a local Manx based skipper who will give me much needed practical tuition on navigation/tides/weather (I am an experienced inland boater but a novice seadog apart from some mid week sailing boat racing around the bay - so have a very healthy respect for the sea and am excited and nervous in equal measure!).
Many thanks to all forumites who have given sound advice along the way during my journey to boat purchase
