Can anyone recommend a mechanic to help me?
We're planning to leave these shores next year for an extended cruise, and I want to make sure that I know my engine inside out, and that it is in good condition.
I'd like to employ a mechanic to service and thoroughly inspect our engine, and, whilst doing so, take the time to talk me through the specifics of this type - paid for his time of course.
I'm a pretty handy engineer, familiar with diesel maintenance and servicing, so I'm not asking for a one-to-one diesel engine course, but the 'what to look for' points of these engines.
It's a Ford Lehman 80hp of 1987 vintage, with Borg Warner Velvet Drive gearbox. I have all the manuals, service records etc. Boat is based near Ipswich.
