Sailed on new to me/pre-owned yacht with Raytheon RN300 GPS. Acquring satellites always very slow and then one day no fix at all. What I need is a backup! I have a PC on board so one option is to get a bluetooth dongle and link to an external bluetooth aerial. This would avoid wires etc. Is a good idea? If yes, can anyone recommend a reliable salt water resistant aerial?

Thanks

TudorDoc

PS If anyone knows how to improve the RN300 GPS that would be a plus!

I use this one.
It's fitted below decks and has no problem acquiring or maintaining signal. Waterproof, cheap and comes with a cigar lighter for power (although I've wired mine in permanently).
Recommended.

Edit note. Oops, just noticed you wanted a bluetooth model and mine isn't ! Still you'll find bluetooth models available if you follow the link.
