Q.a.t. : can anyone here recommend a good sailmaker in or near Brighton, East Sussex ? I only need my sails cleaned and inspected / repaired atm but would like to use someone I can trust going forward...

Sussex Yachts are a chandlery & sail repair business in Brighton Marina. Just picked up my clean & repaired sails from them today although I haven't put the sails back onto the boat yet so cannot vouch for the quality. But easy to deal with, and did the job within the promised timeframe.

There are two at the marina, Mike;
Mike somebody at Sussex Yachts as previously mentioned (in the shopping arcade), and Mike Green at SMR (down the bottom end by the lock). He does repairs there, not sure if the other people do. He's also a Hyde agent.
Mike Green is frequently at SYC at weekends, often crews in the Sunday races, you might well see him this weekend as it's the last race before New Year.

Mike Green at SMR repaired/restitched a UV strip for me, quickly & reasonably I thought...

Definitely would recommend Mike Green. I have been dealing with him for donkeys years. He knows his stuff and he is agent for Hyde Sails. He works out of Shoreham this days. Don't know about that crowd in Brighton Marina, never had to deal with them.
