I have a rough plan to sail South next year sometime around June/July heading from West Wales to Northern/Western France then onto Spain, Portugal, and ending up around November somewhere West of Gibralter for the winter. I know there are a lot of guides for these areas and thats the problem, which ones to get? Can you please let me know which you recommend are the most useful to me for this route in a sailing boat, then I can spend these dark cold nights researching and day dreaming.
Thanks Andy.

Either reeds or cruising association almanac is a must, then Imrays Spain/Portugal is probably as good as any.

Online Visit my harbour has a lot further north, then Jimb is good for the rest.

Plus navionics online is handy for a good nights armchair cruising

We've used the RCCPF Atlantic Spain and Portugal, which was very useful and well worth the money with good coverage of anchorages and lots of handy aerial photographs. Only thing I wished it would mention more of were dinghy landing spots. The Reeds was okay but gets a bit sparse after arriving in Spain, those areas seem more of an afterthought compared to the good coverage it has for the channel.

Online guides that were useful:

http://www.manorhouses.com/ports/index.html (outdated, but still had some additional points to offer)
And of course Cruiserswiki and Noonsite (lots of good info in the comments there, some of which from us)

If you want to read about our journey south this year (with photos), have a look at the blog: https://sdfjkl.org

Everyone told us to not skip over the Spanish Rias, and they were absolutely right :)

I wrote this book expressly for that passage

With the information and using openCPN you can plan and dream to your hearts content.../ I actually use my own book whenever I make that passage.
