A friend wants to learn sailing and has a week hols booked in June. I think dinghys are the way to start - anyone know a good friendly patient place (she aint no natural sailor) for a weeks course suitable for adults - ie not swamped with kids ?
Accommodation in or out, doesn't matter.

I did some dinghy sailing in the school at Salcombe. It's got a lot going for it, as plenty of places to go within a very short distance, and being sheltered, quite safe to go out nearly every day. Also plenty around to keep non sailors interested, and as a beautiful busy area, also lots to see while on the water. Never had a problem with kids, as they tend to be kept separate

I did my level 5 and instructors course at Plas Menai in Bangor inWales. The advantage is you live on site, wake up in the morning and sail all day. Then socialise in the bar at night. No driving, everything in good condition, and all to hand. And a nice sailing area too..pretty and not too crowded. Where is your friend??

My recommendation would be Menorca Sailing, near Fornells. Brilliant equipment, lovely setting and the water is warm!
