Recommend a decent, available surveyor in Hartlepool area?

Could do with having a survey done fairly rapidly on a small yacht (30 foot cruiser) I'm interested in buying as it seems no insurer will insure it without one.

It's in Hartlepool.

Any recommendations please?

Try John Crompton, he was really helpful when I bought my first boat a year ago. He suggested I join him for the survey so we could talk through any issues he found. I found this approach really useful and I learned a lot.

Hi there, go on the www.IIMS.org.uk site and do a search for a local surveyor. Remember always to ask questions of your surveyor,

1. what experience does he or she have?
2. Does he or she carry PI insurance
3. Are they experienced with your type of craft ?
4. Can you see a sample report
5. Can you attend the survey

Also ask the insurers what they want to see in the report, some insurance companies don't seem to know what they need !!! Pantaeneus have a checklist of the items that they need inspecting
