Recommend a cover for the ubiquitous Tohatsu 2.5 hp outboard?

Any recommendations for a good value for money, not cheap nor mega expensive, cover for the Tohatsu 2.5 2-stroke?

I normally don’t leave it on the boat but circumstances this season dictate that I’ll have to leave it, secured, to its bracket. Is a top cover sufficient or should I buy a full cover?

I’d appreciate the benefit of any experience.

We left ours on the rail all last season and it still looks good. However Lou is going to sew up a top cover to give it some uv protection. I have never found a cover to fit and look good, we have the 3.3 two smoke, so just about the same as yours. I can remember someone in Holyhead havig a sports direct bag bungeed over the top of one, which actually looked better than the one size fits all. Also the older and more knackered they look then the less likely hood of being "Borrowed".

1. My wee Tohatsu plastic has been attacked by UV and has faded quite badly. I do leave it on board, but I have a really secure lock. You need to get a cover that blocks out the sunlight. Canvas covers are OK but no deterrent to a thief. The local fuzz recommend removing the plastic before fitting the fabric cover as it makes the o/b more difficult to move on quickly and they are able to find out who ordered new plastic covers around the time of a theft. Most canvas people can whip up something that;ll do the job but you will need to lock it in place before covering. hope this helps.

My Evinrude stays on its bracket all summer and has done so for a good few years without a cover. I have considered finding something to cover it because of the mess the birds make.... but then I'd have a messy cover to deal with.

A plastic rubble sack would probably be big enough for a small engine.
