as a "south coast virgin" it comes as a bit of a shock to have to pay for anchoring and lovely though Falmouth is it has been expensive for us. Are there any anchorages where the man in launch does not come knocking, at Fowey and Plymouth.
Pilot books and Reeds at boat, me cheshire.
Any advice welcome.

In Plymouth , the West side of Cawsands bay is good except in an Easterly , if an Easterly Jennycliffe Bay then provides good shelter.
You can also anchor just South and West of the narrows (forget the name of the bay) just below the Cremyl ferry dock.
In Fowey a man always comes as far as I know when I have been there.
If you are prepared to go further up into the Tamar do some research on the Dandy Hole , it's a good place to go I think in any weather.

The bay just by the ferry you mention is allegedly littered with large bits of wartime concrete. Never found any but only ever use as lunchtime stop on neaps.
PS stop giving away our local secrets.
