Can anyone recommend a good port to lift out, (12.5m yacht), for 3 or 4 days within about 100m of Gibraltar. I've had a quote from La Lina Marina for approx €500 including staging, tax etc.

Thanks

Isla Verde

Try Isla Verde in Algeciras, Michael speaks good English. You dont pay IVA as its in the tax free area but its slightly dearer than La Linea for short hauls. I found the breakpoint to be about 4 days and you can stay onboard according to Captain Sensible which you cant in La Linea

Don't overlook Morocco. Smir marina has great lift out facilities although not much in the way of chandlers etc. so you need to take everything you need in the way of antifouling etc with you.

That said, the boys know their business and the price is hard to beat......

Nice beach too....

Avoid La Linea !
I spent three miserable weeks there in June.
The boatyard although very clean and tidy is extremely regimental - they physically throw you out when they close - 8pm high season and 6pm low season. They are closed from 1pm sat through till monday so no access to your boat for most of the weekend.
There is only one volvo penta engineering company at 60€+ per hour- no other services at all. I was 30 metres away from water/electric supply.
Marina to yard is appprox 20 minute walk unless you have a dinghy. That said, there,s no point in going to the marina anyway because there is absolutely nothing there either !
Nightmare if you have a car as the marina entrance is at the bottleneck entrance to Gib. The Spanish want paying if you try to cut in the queue, even if you try to explain that you are going to the marina and not Gib. Not recommended at all !

From my web site:
Algeciras. This large Spanish port just west of Gibraltar has a boat yard (Isla Verde) suitable for winter layup ashore, with a 150 ton crane. The yard is within a duty free zone, and no VAT (IVA) charge is added to slipping fees and labour charges.
Estepona and Duquesa, to the east, also offer hards suitable for short periods ashore.
