I am looking for a torch than can be kept on continuous charge from the boat 12v supply. Something like you see in airlines. Ie, wall mounted, small and compact.

Any ideas where I can get such a thing? Looked at Maplins with no joy.

Cheers

Wayne

Two alternative approaches:

A <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.nauticalia.com/product_info.php?product=SEARCH&dpi=93138&UNI=1080381587> LED Torch</A> that lasts for 10 hrs and is very bright.

A <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.nauticalia.com/product_info.php?product=SEARCH&dpi=93144&UNI=1080381682> Faraday Torch</A> that you shake to charge.

Black and Decker certainly used to do one, but I don't know if it is still available.

Sorry, not much help really, but it may be worth doing a search........

I have been using a LED torch for a few years now. Uses small AA type batterys. Will last more than a season on one set of batterys. My daughter uses one which she leaves on all night for child who is afraid of the dark! Amazing how long they last & how bright the light. They are quite small in size but rather expensive. Will get name of manufacturer if you interested.

We've got one of the Faraday torches ... it does what it says on the can. But, the magnet which you shake inside the body of it is VERY strong, I wouldn't suggest keeping too near your compass or instruments. You'll need more than a deviation card to correct for that...
