The Receiver of Wreck's duty is to make sure that finders who report their recoveries as required by law, are paid an appropriate salvage payment, usually by the owner (or their insurers) or by the Crown.

Quite frequently, the finder is given the property instead of receiving a payment. It saves the insurance company all that tedious driving round the countryside picking up timber etc!

I dunno, first Geevor tin mine now this...an example of another traditional Cornish industry being revived?

Didn't know it had gone dead. They made 'ansome profit in Scilly a couple of years ago what with trainers, sheets and rolls of plastic, bathroom doors and even a few kitchen sinks. Send us more, O Lord.

Whilst on the subject of the Kodima..........

I see from a number of Navtex warnings over the weekend that drifting timbers have been reported off the Channel Islands and the Dover Strait.

Never a better reason for maintaining a good watch!

Cheers
