Read on a RNLI site this eve that Silva were recalling some of their SIO DSC VHF'S from seriel nus 030001 to 0401060 sold between Dec 03 and May 04, due to the possibility of some of them giving the wrong position in the event of a distress been sent by dsc.
Dont know how long this has been on the RNLI site, as I only saw it this eve for first time.

Mine has, since 2005. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mind you, I only took it out of the box to get it installed a few weeks back and it still isn't hooked up to the antenna. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

they were recalled a couple of years ago....cause they didn't transmit the correct gps position when the "oh s~@t" button was pressed. DOH!
I've had 3 s10's replaced cause they stopped working, and last time it failed, I was upgraded to a S15 which nearly everytime I use it stops working and needs a factory reset procedure! Another letter on it's way asking for refund, compensation etc and then I'll buy an Icom.
Thankgod for 8 year old Icom handheld!
Thankfully never had to use the Silva in anger!

Hi

I bought a s15 about two years ago, but developed lots of little anoying faults, the final straw was when the LCD screen had dark streaks running up and down the display.
I returned it to them with a covering letter, got a replacement within a couple of days, no explanation from Silva.
I have noticed the software has been updated, I think it was version 6.

Dont think I'd buy another.
