Just trying to remove a fuel filter from a Volvo 2002 and is proving a nightmare. Broken two removers, the steel loop type - too near some pipe work to use bike chain type. Tried Plus gas, hot water. It is moving, but very, very slowly like 90mins to get 2 complete turns. Any further thoughts before I take a hammer to it!!
Many Thanks

The approved method on cars was to stuff an old screwdriver through the filter body. Messy but effective.

An altertive might be to remove the filter assembly - a few unions (get new washers and don't overtighten them when you put it all back together) and a couple of bolts to undo. Then you can put it in a vice and have all the access you need.

Once undone half a turn or so it should spin off. Somthing wrong here. We are talking about a throwaway cartridge and you are sure you are turning it the right way?

I fear you are gouing to find that the thread is knackered.

Steve's suggestion to remove the whole assembly to the workshop might be the best bet.
