I'm rebuilding the Jabsco raw water pump for my Perkins 4.108 and having a devils job getting the coupling and old bearing off the shaft. Has anyone here done this? It appears to be a press fit so I will need to find a machine shop with a hydraulic press.. Does anyone know of one that would take on a little job like this? Doesn't have to be South I could post it anywhere in the UK..

aye there is. It's from 2012.. I wasn't sure if it would be seen but I now see that it has jumped to the top. Apologies

I hadn't noticed it was started in 2012. Some people criticise you for dredging up old threads but for info on maintaining old equipment its still very relevant.

I always replaced these using only a big vice. An important point to note is that when you press the drive spigot on, don't press it on too far otherwise the dogs will not pass far enough over the drive dog to make sure they are closely engaged. In fact a bit of trial and error as you press it on will resolve this. Otherwise the drive spigot will then break due to the turning force being on the ends of the dogs rather than their whole length. The bits will then fall into the bottom of the timing case making a much bigger job to get them out.
