Hello all, we are campaigning our old YW Diamond Black Diamond in the RTIR on 30th June, http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318788 and we're making passage down from Essex the slow way, the M25!

I was hoping to have a launching trailer adapted in time, but it's looking more unlikely, so the big question is, where is the most reasonably priced yard offering cranage in the Solent area? We have our own mast derrick so only need dunking and un-dunking. She's only just over a tonne, not bad for a 50 year old, 30 foot wooden boat!

Thanks in advance for your help, these YBW fora are just the best for practical money-saving advice.

All the best
Greg

I used Deacons on the Hamble. Can't complain about service at all. Rates were reasonable for the solent.

Don't know what the going rate is elsewhere, but for reference Kemp's charges £4.50 per foot (inc vat) to lift in.

Given the general state of the place, Quayside Marina next door looks like it ought to be cheaper :)

The Hamble is expensive.

Try somewhere in Chichester Harbour:

Emsworth has restricted access.
Hayling Yacht services is also restricted.
Sparks Marina has full access.
Northney has full access too.
Birdham Pool & Chichester Marina are close together & both are restricted I believe.
Thornham is worth a look but the access is very tidal.

There's a yard up at Portchester that's worth a look.
