Real distance data signal from NMEA Wind unit ?

May sound daft - but having boat at bottom of garden - I wonder how far the wireless Wind unit such as the NASA can really be received at ?

Thinking that not only to have display on boat - but maybe a repeat at the house ....

I know what the NASA spec says - but what is the REAL range it can be picked up ?
