Hi
I have a 1979 Centaur with its original upholstery which as well as looking a bit dated is now a bit passed its best.
My question is, has anyone got personal experience of having their boat re-upholstered or can recommend a firm to do a good job at a fare and reasonable price?
I am located in the Essex area but for a good job transporting the old cushions as templates would not be a problem.

I can't recommend a particular upholsterer but don't necessarily go to one that specialises in boats as you will probably pay a whole lot more.

Try a domestic upholsterer in your home town. We did this a few years ago, got a good price locally as well as a first class service.

Cheers

I had the whole 20 seater cockpit of my 46' Princess sportscruiser recovered by Steve Claridge of Claridge upholstery. He did a fantastic job, for a good price, in a short time.

He is based in Kent but I doubt Essex is too far.

Contact him on 01843 290855

Hi

Just have had my 1980 29' yacht re done for the same reason! I thought about trying to do a home job but to get the correct foam costs quite a bit.

I used a company called Comfort Afloat, based in Quay Lane boatyard in Gosport. They were recommended to me and gave a first class service. I chose a mide range material and had the forepeak, main saloon, back rests and quarter berth done for £1600. This beat any other quote I got.

I would have no hestation to recommend them to anyone else. I have their number at home but they have a website I think... comfortafloat.co.uk or something similar.

Hope this helps.

I would echo what JAMESS said. I used a local place miles from the sea and completed the whole boat for the price that a marine company wanted for just 2 cushions.
