I have to say I was not much impressed with the personal sets as tested by pbo this month. The kefuffle to set the thing off has made my mind up to invest in a self launching unit for the boat.
The idea of having a pair of personals on board for each to carry on our lifejackets has been dented after finding out you have to mess around with aerials and switches and then hold the damn things aloft in order to get a signal out.
I think I will wait for the technology to catch up a bit more on the personal sets before investing. When they make an auto unit that can float alongside the body in the water then I might buy.

What you need to consider is that if you fell aff - wid yer mates come back for you? We wouldn't in your case so perhaps ye've spent a few bob on an EPIRB that wid have been better spent over a bar. The effect of this would be to raise your standing in our eyes and therefore thinking better of ye, Para wid probably say "Och - goan, we'd better pick the wee jessie up" and Para being a kind of father figure tae us all, we'd probably go alang with it. As things stand we all think yer a tight wee skinnyflint and the response wid be altaegither diffrent.
