Re-painting white aluminium

Afternoon all,

The white painted manual bilge pump socket thing in our cockpit has started to flake off. Sure it is aluminium.

What is the best way to repaint this?

Spray etch primer then spray topcoat.
The old paint is best removed and any powdery bits cleaned back to good metal first.

As above. Needs all the old stuff taken off and if you use a stripper then clean thoroughly after or it will be absorbed and bubble through the paint. A light sand, clean again. Many car places sell etch primer. Do a good job of it then a good few thin coats of spray on paint.

Hammerite Special Metals Primer is good for non-ferrous. Providing it's clean and free of loose stuff.
