Re: "misleading article"

reading SOME of the postings on that thread, I really do get the feeling that there are people who actually believe that the RNLI should be taken over by a government body, HMC Agency or whatever. Anyone care to own up?
Chas, on Kentrina's login so not necessarily her point of view

Come on peeps, after due consideration how could anyone own up to such a thing.
I mean, who in their right mind would want this mob of a discredited Government or one of its Quangos running a newly named RNLI ??
God help us if that ever comes about because everything this shower touch turns to rats shoit

Please point us to any poster that gave that impression!

The argument is about how you improve knowledge about safety at sea. The criticism of lack of transparency over reporting - or rather the way of reporting, applies to both government services and RNLI.

It is an issue of what you report - so the MAIB reports in a particular way because that is what it is required to do. Other bodies also report in specific ways because that is what they are required to do or because they choose to do so in the abscence of any externally imposed requirement.

It is not about whether the RNLI would be better run by government.
