with our additions and modifications almost complete.

But a very expensive winter refit. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The sugar scoop is great and looks original, except it's a better shape, I hope. The new windscreen is as yet unglazed, and we are now pushing for a new sprayhood to fit to it.

Our Navman wind direction/speed instrument is still non-functioning, but the rest work OK. The water pressure pump cannot seem to pressurize the domestic water system and just keeps running, although I cannot find a leak (yet), but the final repair will have to wait until the new water tank comes; hopefully before we go on holiday /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The boat looks lovely where we have been able to clean and polish, but the decks are still covered with Dell Quay dust and grit, and will get a pressure washing as soon as I can find the time.

But it was WONDERFUL to sail back from Chi Harbour to Portsmouth on a flat sea with not very much wind, and not very much sun ( so that HWMBO didn't overheat), and then as we entered the harbour the sun came out strongly and the whole place looked beautiful.

Portsmouth looking beautiful.............................. just shows how a six-month spell in a boatyard can affect ones judgement /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

When I was ready to start the engine, I just turned it over with the throttle closed to stir up the oil. And it started immediately. After 6 months of standing idle!!!! Now in my book, that is impressive!!

Now all we have to do is complete the unfinished tasks, buy a new liferaft, new flares, sort out the lappie chartplotter, the AIS engine (Nasa; we didn't know of Tome's opinion of them when we bought it) and begin the summer sailing season.

So when is the next Cherbourg trip planned? We are a bit short on wine /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Now tell me, is wine still cheaper in France? Like for like that is?

Do you have a plimsol line on a yacht (for the weight of wine)?

I guess when the sea level comes over the sugar scoop when idle would be a good indicator!!!

Wine always SEEMS cheaper in France; and to be honest, if you choose what you buy, I am sure that it is. Not Australian wines in Cherbourg, certainly. But who would buy Aussie wines in France? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We raised the waterline 2 inches a couple of years ago when most of our extras went on board. probably won't have to do it again. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Still, with a nice clean bottom CM clips along well enough, especially if it is a bit windy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The cherbourg trips have a similar effect on my waist measurement /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Glad the refit went well.

A faulty pressure switch could be causing your pump to run continuously.Or an airlock in the pump, try taking the outlet pipe off the pump with it running when solid water starts coming out jam the pipe back on quickly and tighten the clips with it still running.you will be soaked in the process but hopefully will fix it.

Our water pump did the same this Spring- finally I found the filter from the tank to the pump which was full of strange things - slime and limescale. Must be the Chi water! With filter cleaned the pump stopped running as soon as pressure was up, as it is supposed to. My first maintenance on our new purchase actually worked - cause for much celebration that night! We also moved Spindrift to Haslar this Spring - look forward to seeing you there.

Are you sure it is legal to buy Aussie wines in France? I thought that was the reason why the Gendarmes carried side-arms?

Adding a sugar scoop sounds interesting!

On our 376 you can clearly see the 'join' line where the mould was extended by the factory, so yours is likely to be better than the 'factory fit'.

Have you added any portlights in the transom? They help with ventilation without leaving the boat vulnerable to theft by leaving main hatches open.

Cheers
