If Ibought a boat in a EU country are there any hurdels to putting the boat under uk flag and registering on the SSR.I assume at this stage that the boat has proper papers withvat paid etc. Here in Spain there are various complications,as one would expect!

I am given to understand that to be able to register under SSR you have to be UK resident.

Should have checked before asking! Still in therory as a Spanish resident I am not eligable but my daughter is,I just have to wear a wig and talk in a falsetto voice!!

Plenty of non UK residents have SSR reg boats. But you might want to read some other threads on this forum before keeping one in Spain.

Since your daughter might be owning the boat, is she single?

I'll get me coat....

This is part of my great plan to avoid registering in Spain.Keep the boat in Portugal under uk flag,Spanish reg can be done but so many on going restictions and costs and surveys etc etc that I am looking for other avenues. At present my daughter is single,I am hoping she is going to marry someone well off....soon!I assume you are infering she could or her "partner" could legally walk off with the boat.

The master plan, Huh. Sounds all right.

The other bit was..... On the lines of " Need Girlfriend with boat and motor, send pix of boat" :-D

Joking apart, SSR is not proof of ownership. One presumes you will have a bill of sale.
