hi all i am comeing home on holidays soon will be home aprox 2years i useualy hire a boat in tarbert scotland. also in wales and devon i love to fish . and was wondering what its like now over there for cod salmon and trout.as every one i ask here says shes all fished out .i .hope this is not true.i also fish for mackral useualy round brixham and pollock round this area also. so if any one as any info i would be very greatfull....regards to all dave /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The Cod fishing season in the Bristol Channel usually starts about November then carries on through out the winter..Anglers are saying the size and numbers are down on previous years but still plenty to be caught.

Im not an angler myself so cant say much more.

thanks graham . last time i came over we had aball . cod was on in lockfyne and mackral runningdown in devon and round the coast .seems like no body fishes on this forum as i have only had your reply thanks again regards dave

I was standing on the visitors pontoon in Tarbert Harbour on Sunday watching the mackerel shoal about in the shallows.
We normally get a mackerel dinner and stock up for the freezer most times we are out . I got a fair sized conger a couple of weekends ago... but that didn't make the freezer, it was BBQ'd on a bonfire that night.
Haven't had a cod for a long while but we occasionally get saithe.

hi yes i know tarbert well this is were we usualy stay has its such a lovly place and the people there are great and the pub we had a realy wonderfull time there thats y we are going again cant wait thanks for the info . happy sailing an fishing .regards dave
