Hi guys,

Does anyone know anywhere I can get the (vitrious?) enamal re-done for the stove top on my taylors 029?

It is rusting and I need to give it some TLC!

Also, the metal mhas been strayed with engine lacquer at some stage and as that is not breaking down it looks a real mess..any ideas how I can get it off?!

Oh the joys of winter refurb!

Had mine re-done by Taylors as part of a complete refurbish. Don't know how they did it or what it cost, but the overall price was not huge in relation to a new cooker (but still not cheap!!)

This is your lucky day.

I spent a fair bit of time pre season searching for a vitreous enameller that didn't want a fortune to re enamel the two circular plates on my Taylors.

Guess what? I found one eventually.... www.kingfisherenamelling.com ...I think I paid £25 plus a bit of postage/packing.

I spoke to the admin person ( Sue if my memory works) explained that I needed a small job done, small price etc and said I'd email them the cash, the parts and they could do it when they next did some black (in reality - most days). Very accommodating, had to chase them up to get the things sent back, but for that price no complaint. The enamel finish is fantastic!

I used a courier to mail the pieces. For the whole top plate I'd make a sort of folder out of ply and gaffer tape up the edges. If the plate get's damaged in transit a replacement would cost a fortune.

Don't worry about the rust/engine lacquer - the parts are grit blasted back to bare metal.
