who would the forum recommend to re build Perkins 4108?
Boat currently in dunstaffnage and engine will be removed in the next month or so. I've heard that there are some smaller companies in the UK that specialise in re building small marine diesels but I can't find anything on the internet that looks like they would do the job (aside from Goldenarrow in Southampton).

My 4107 was rebuilt by the engineer at the Elephant Boat Yard on the Hamble.

This was just before I bought her 6 years ago and it then had only 50hrs on the clock.

The great thing about these old style engines of course is that if you do your own maintainance they are so easy to work on..and of course the spares are cheap if you need any.

Possibly worth talking to a Perkins parts supplier for a recommendation??

Regards Nick

If time permits Why not have a go yourself? 4108s - Very simple lumps to understand and get stuck into.
Lots of good DIY manuals and advice around.
Masses of spares cheap.

You will never be scared of engines breaking down again.

Would second that, common sense and a good set of tools, AF mostly is pretty well all is required.
As others said lots of spares and advice around, a great project for the winter.

Godd luck
