Raytheon/Raymarine

help! I am confused. Mon nouveau bateau, due for deluvery next may, has a factory fitted Raytheon ST 6001 autopilot as an option. Now i would like a wireless control for this if possible, and i know raymarine does this. in my ignorance i thought Raytheon and raymarine were one and the same, yet checking the Raymarine web site, product search, no sign of a ST 6001. yet google this, and up it comes as a raymarine product. Any explanations? And does anyone know if a wireless remote is an option? thanks

The ST6001 is a control head for an autopilot system. It's a current product, listed here on the Raymarine website. You can easily add a wireless controller, because these work through the SeaTalk network.

My guess is that the boatbuilder hasn't updated the options list for some time, hence the Raytheon name being there.

Thanks. What a useful forum this is! Question answered perfectly. Now, which wireless controller to go for....? hmm one is 3 tmes the cost of the other (and in US dollars) so that solves that problem then!

May I suggest You attentively evaluate the "more expensive" option?
It consists of a reapeter of all data of your instument set plus a repeater of all the alarms plus, of course, controls the AP.
I regularly keep it under my pillow at night with high wind, high water and low water alarms set: if anything happens I get a wake up without the system alarm blowing off everybody from theyr bunks (that is a pleasure I keep to myself /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ).
The only shortcoming I see: it is not ALSO a VHF terminal as for the SIMRAD.
